Peony-Style Alternatives That Genuinely Work
When peonies aren't in season, certain garden roses give you a remarkably similar effect — dense, many-petalled heads that open wide and full. It isn't a compromise so much as a different route to the same feeling. A few designs built on that idea:

Caring for Peonies
- Expect closed buds. Peonies are cut tight and open over the following days. A bouquet that arrives closed is a bouquet with a week ahead of it.
- Trim the stems at a 45-degree angle and re-trim every couple of days.
- Change the water every two days and strip leaves below the waterline.
- Warmth speeds them up. If you need blooms open sooner, a warmer room helps; to slow them down, keep them somewhere cooler and out of direct sun.
- Watch for ants on garden-grown peonies — harmless, and easily rinsed off.
